“Overall, this track stands out as it avoids clichés and offers something that feels truly nostalgic; the opening providing an enduring riff that subtly paves the way for swells of guitars and monotone feelings of anger from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a modern take on the sludge sound of mid-90’s Seattle, this is where to find it.” Soundwave Mag review of their last single ‘Hot Bath’
A Leeds based alternative band who recorded their first four singles at Young Thug Studios in York and have had them featured in Charlie Ashcrofts Fresh Finds Playlist.
They’ve been playing gigs consistently since mid-2018 in and around Leeds and York, they’ve also played in Stockton and headlined the renowned Boat Club in Nottingham.
“I was moved by all of the songs in different ways, they all made me think… this is spoken word poetry… and musically they are incredible” – Local Sound Focus
They create a vibrant, bustling sound that tells stories of the people and places they experience, in a distinctive fusion of styles.
Musically, they draw on jazz, pop, and folk traditions to create infectious grooves and melodies. Lyrically, they blend spoken word and sung vocals to convey evocative, relatable storytelling.
Or, as one person put quite concisely to me after the band’s latest show – “they’re like The Streets innit, but… jazzier??”.
They’ve been making waves on the Leeds scene and beyond, with our refreshing new sound, and devotion to local characters. After releasing a series of singles during the Coronavirus Lockdown of 2020, they formed a strong fanbase in the local area; and have been gigging relentlessly throughout 2021 – including at venues such as Oporto, Royal Park Cellars and Off The Square.
The band’s performances can turn any crowd into a sweating, dancing mob.
“This is not throwaway pop, it’s pop made with craft, feeling and skill. You can hear it in the light clever touches of sounds that lurk in the music” “…hints of jazz, a little soul and a whole load of what I call that Laurel Canyon sound” – Local Sound Focus
“They are an outfit that is new to the scene and make that type of music you can’t help but tap your feet with” – ANR Factory
Thoughtful jazzy alt-pop fusing funk rock with quirky undertones. The Leeds based band formed in 2020 and have inventively worked together to find ways of creating a musical and visual identity. Forgettable Faces are releasing their debut 6 track EP in March 2022 and are collaboratively developing new material.
A four-piece Leeds-based indie rock band with pop and synth elements. They combine a multitude of styles and influences: think of it as The Strokes meets John Denver, with a dash of Declan McKenna and topped with a touch of Republica.
