Originating south of Leeds, Astoria bring together the music of their individual record collections to create a sound with its roots set in Ambience, Soul and Rock. The band have begun to shake the music scene in Leeds by selling out venues across the city just months after their first release. The band consists of Singer and Lead Guitarist Vinnie Smith, Rhythm Guitarist Luke Etchells, Bassist Alex Mawson and Drummer George Grady. Their debut track, ‘Where The Light Lives’ was released in May ‘21.
“We are talking rock ‘n’ roll with a retro feel; kind of arty glam. Big guitar rock with big tunes, big vocals that I can only describe as sincere and meant. And they put these songs together in ways that intrigue. In this world of alt-rock and indie this is something different; and that’s enough to make my ears prick up and listen — I want to see them play again, and soon” – Local Sound Focus
“Astoria are one hell of a Yorkshire prodigy. They were an ingenious solution for electrifying a crowd before the headline act that night. There was a pure element about the band, and their down-to-earth look resulted in sound waves of positivity. Their enjoyment on the night was clear on their faces, too, which was a sight that we all wanted to see. Music brings us together, after all, and it certainly glues the essentials of this group” – Record Weekly
“A tease of great things to come” – Real Rock n’ Roll – blog
“The Brazen call themselves ‘Anthemic indie rock’ and that is exactly what they are!” – Fred Perry Subculture
